BRTA goes smart and so do the drivers
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is going smart from digital. After digital number plate with RFID and smart license, now specialized software is being prepared to ensure the functionality of this license. Concerned sources said that through this software, the faults of the driver will be detected in the form of points.
According to sources, the new software carries 12 points for each driver's license against 13 offences. Of these, only carrying excess weight and deliberately blocking the path of another vehicle will be deducted 2 points. Also, one point can be deducted in cases of violation of traffic signals or laws, driving over the prescribed limit, honking at high volume, illegal parking, violation of the law on medical treatment of persons injured in road accidents, commercial use of private vehicles, collection of excess fare, meter change etc. Driving license will be revoked or suspended if the level of crime increases and 12 points are deducted. If a driver loses 8 points, he cannot apply for refund for 2 years. And if the license is canceled once, the person will be considered ineligible to get a driving license.
It is known that the work of creating this software will be completed in the next couple of months. After that BRTA and police traffic department will start using it simultaneously across the country. It will start from Dhaka city. BRTA Chairman Noor Mohammad Majumder gave such a glimpse.
And BRTA's director of engineering, engineer Shithanshu Shekhar Biswas, said that a traffic sergeant can log in with user ID and password in this software, and if he violates the traffic law, he will be fined as well as deduct points. If you follow the rules for 6 consecutive months, you will get 2 points back.
